    • Major Partner for all Marine Projects for over 15 years.

    • Provided also Installation Personnel for all trades including Instrument Technicians, Welders, Pipefitters, Fabricators and Electricians. 

    • Recruitment, Employment and Administration of Senior Support staff, Material Procurement, Site Engineering, Drafting, Quality Control, Project documentation / records, Construction Management, Field liaison engineers etc.

    MCE Lentjes-Dupont, Dordrecht, Netherlands


    • Provided the majority of senior field supervision and tradesmen. 

    • Tradesmen included coded welders and pipefitters and the supervision to organise all construction teams in the field.  

    • This on-going project of one-year duration involved intense periods of activity to make tie-ins to existing plant with the need for rapid up manning and down-manning at short notice. 


    Harland and Wolff, Belfast


    • Joint venture with Randstad, Provide engineers, field management and tradesmen  

    • Recruitment of all new labour over 500 skilled personnel at peaks. 

    • Rapid up-manning/down-manning of labour 

    • Administration of all non-staff labour from own site offices. 

    • Co-ordination team manage and supervise all manpower requirements of the client.

    Kalundborg Condensate Project, Denmark 


    • Major expansion to Kalundborg Refinery in Denmark 

    • Provided main management team  

    • Personnel included project section managers and project engineers for piping, rotating equipment, tank construction, process controls etc.,  

    • Managed and controlled all project documentation as well as providing the quality management and inspectors for the new construction. 

    • Controlled installation and commissioning of the project.

    • Plant Units: Ethylene Cracking, Butadyene Benzene, Ethylene Oxide, Power Generation, Ship/Road/Rail loading 

    • Liaison with all Engineering contractors (Lummus / CTIP / COMSIP etc.) 

    • Managing all contractors (Engineering and Installation)

    Dolphin A.S, Norway


    • The provision of up to 140 Supervisors and tradesmen  

    • These includes Electrical Technicians, Welders, Instrument Fitters, HVAC personnel on the modification of offshore platforms at Harland & Wolff Shipyard at Belfast.  

    • Our team was a major part of a task force to improve completion dates for two semi-submersible platforms. 


    Cegelec-Alstom, Amoco Geel, Belgium 


    • The provision of the process control instrumentation engineers and technicians for testing and pre-commissioning activities for both Comsip Belgium and Comsip UK. Projects include: Power Generation, Petro-Chem and offshore services.

    • Support services to assist with project acquisition, bid package compilation and calculations. 

    • Sterford personnel also assist with contract negotiations. 


    Jongejans Staalbouw Den Helder, Netherlands


    • The supply of coded welders and steelworkers for both marine and offshore projects. This is a continuous support for all Jongejans activities. H3: Lummus Heat Transfer, Turkey 

    • Sterford Group supporting its Associated Company Stercon Engineering Netherlands, carried out detailed engineering for the application of all process systems for the TUPRAS Project, Turkey. 


    Ultramar Offshore Prod. Modules, Dordrecht


    • Sterford provided a team of Quality Control inspectors to inspect and accept the platform installation at De Groot Yards, Dordrecht, Netherlands. The responsibility included the compilation of all test documents for the final client. 


    Elf Petrol and Offshore Platform


    • Electrical and Mechanical supervision and installation testing contract for the offshore platform constructed at Scheldeport, Vlissingen. 

    • H3: Chevron Offshore Platform, Netherlands

    • Quality control inspection of the installation of instrumentation and electrical equipment at the Zwijndrecht yard in the Netherlands. 


    Shell Curacao OMMP Project, Netherlands


    • The provision of Senior Instrument engineering personnel for this long-term project over a period of 3 years in the head offices at the Hague, Netherlands. The project engineering was managed on behalf of Shell until its conclusion.

    • The provision of Electrical Design Engineers, Technicians and construction supervision for various electrical construction works related to power generation, offshore and other contracts.

    • The operation of a labour partnership for supervision and tradesmen for a major long-term offshore maintenance contract. This includes the provision of all trades at short notice as well as the provision of personnel for the onshore workshops. Sterford also provides manpower for construction of modules for offshore projects. 


    Lummus Heat Transfer, Turkey 


    • Sterford Group supported its Associated Company Stercon Engineering Netherlands and carried out detailed engineering for the application of all process systems for the TUPRAS Project, Turkey. 


    Ultramar Offshore Prod. Modules, Dordrecht

    B.P Offshore Modules, Belgium


    • Sterford N.V. (Belgium) performed a contract at the Ghent Module yard of Fabricom Belgium testing and accepting all instrumentation on thirteen major offshore modules.

    • Quality control inspection of the installation of instrumentation and electrical equipment at the Zwijndrecht yard in the Netherlands.


    Heerema Grootint b.v Shipyard, Zwijndrecht, Netherlands


    • The supply of coded welders and pipefitters for various offshore projects for this major Netherlands Marine & Offshore construction yard. 


    A. Hak Offshore and Pipeline Division, Netherlands


    • The provision of all steel trades persons for both operations of this major Netherlands offshore and fabrication company. 


    Shell Curacao Cot Project


    • The provision of Instrumentation design engineering personnel for this major project to automate the largest oil terminal in the world at that time. 


    Petronas / Shell LNG I, Malaysia


    • Sterford Group, supporting Sterford Malaysia Sdn.Bhd. commissioned the Instrumentation and Communications Systems for the Bintulu LNG project and maintained the plant for a period of ten years. During this time Sterford Group personnel supervised plant engineering, field activities, workshop and training establishments. These services were eventually handed over to local personnel as running departments. 


    Shell LNG 2, Malaysia


    • Sterford provided process control equipment inspection services for this second train for the Bintulu LNG plant. 


    Anadarko – Sonotrach, Algeria 


    • A long-term preferred supplier and procurer of all materials ranging from Piping, Valves, Instrumentation, Electrical, vehicles, plant etc. Other support extends assistance with software for E-Procurement and the provision of technical personnel.   


    Aramco, Netherlands and Saudi Arabia


    • As a qualified contractor, Sterford provided inspection and expediting personnel to the national oil company for Saudi Arabia. 

  • Power Generation

    Strabach Construction, Germany


    • The provision of all support trades for the construction of Dresden Power station over a period of two years for the construction of the world’s largest conventional power station. This included civil construction, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation. 


    Embedded Generation Facility in a new process plant (Financial and Logistical Feasibility Study, Southern Asia


    • Assigned engineers to complete the study on behalf of the client and the bankers.  

    • Provide project management on behalf of the client to oversee the construction and to manage the procurement. 

    • Supply chain in order to meet the feasibility study requirements.  

    • Provide technical staff for the construction phase of the project  

    • Provide the operating staff necessary for the process needs.

    • Associated with 3 x 120MW power stations in a live plant. The plant includes all turbine, steam raising and ancillary plant and associated systems

    • Feasibility Study, Engineers and Main Project Developers for and on behalf of owners, funders and the Cambodian Government for a major national development comprising 2,400 MWe Power Generation, Power Transmission, Aluminium Smelter Complex and major Sea Port

    Masco Smelter Project, Malaysia


    • Developers with the Malaysian Government controlled MASCO company of the Power Facility for the proposed Aluminium Smelter Project for Port Lumut

    Coal Fired Power Station, Romania


    • Feasibility Study, Engineers and Project Managers on behalf of the client Athena and government for the retrofit of 2 lignite fired thermal power generation units (CFB’s) with an overall installed capacity of 400MWe utilising clean coal technologies

    • Training of all operating staff in new technology and operating procedures

    • Project developers on behalf of the client and “Government” for the development of long-term sustainable waste to energy process from unsorted Municipal Solid Waste (MSW). The process employs a unique mechanical separation/anaerobic digestion process, which produces both soil improver (fertiliser) and biogas for power generation. This project is being developed to include benefits for a rapidly developing southern African country.

    FinanesteNC3 Project, Pre-Commissioning, Antwerp, Belgium


    • Sterford Group supporting Sterford  N.V. (Belgium) put together a team of Process Control Engineers, Instrument commissioning engineers and technicians at short notice to provide the instrument expertise required to transfer this major naphtha cracker project from mechanical completion phase to operational status. 


    Vonk N.V Coevordon, Netherlands


    • Compilation of plant operating and maintenance manuals for Gas Compressor modules for Shell Nigeria with follow up support for on-site training and instruction.


    North Sea Petrochemicals Polypropylene – Pre-commissioning and Commissioning, Kallo, Belgium


    • Sterford Group supporting Sterford N.V. (Belgium) participated in this complex project with the supply of design engineers and was responsible for the verification of both design and operational functioning of the process control instrumentation installed on this plant.   

    • Following the pre-commissioning our engineers and technicians provided 24-hour cover during the commissioning phase of operations. This involved close co-operation with the production personnel to ensure a smooth introduction of raw feedstock into the plant until on-specification finished product was achieved. 


    Dupont Petrochemicals, Aviles, Spain


    • Provided the management and engineering staff for all process control elements of this plant. This was followed by the provision of commissioning personnel for Instrumentation systems and the training of Dupont personnel at the petrochemical complex at Aviles, Spain.

    • The provision of Instrumentation design engineering personnel for this major project to automate the largest oil terminal in the world at that time.

    TOT & Beers / Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Netherlands


    • Provision of supervision for installation, cost control and quantity surveying for a major plant extension for Solvay in the Netherlands 


    Gist Brocades Pharmaceuticals, Benelux and Portugal


    • On behalf of Taylor Instruments, Sterford carried out the detailed design and configuration for various Gist Brocades Pharmaceutical plants in the Benelux and also the Portuguese Matosinhos plant. 

    • The work in Benelux included detailed engineering design and configuration for Taylor Mod 30 interfacing with Mod 300 DCS equipment. 

    • At Matosinhos, Sterford carried out the detailed design and material specification for instrument / electrical systems for a seawater intake project involving Siemens PLC equipment. Engineering was followed up with pre-commissioning and start up services in all cases.

    • Sterford carried out a three-year contract as a preferred supplier for licensed aircraft maintenance engineering personnel.  

    • Project management of management information and controls systems based on new IT infrastructure

    Infrastructure Construction for a new Cement Manufacturing Plant, UK


    • This project covered the provision all project management and construction staff.  


    Indinox N.V Bessemer Carpet Factor, Germany


    • Provided specialist maintenance and shutdown personnel for Indinox for various production factory contracts for a large German carpet factory.  

    • Work involved the supervision of the overhaul and replacement of all mechanical and electrical equipment. Trades provided included welders, fabricators, electricians etc. 


    Air Products, Pernis, Rotterdam


    • Supported construction personnel (average 65 persons) including electrical and instrumentation engineers, instrumentation technicians and site management for Fabricom Netherlands for this major plant rebuild. 


    Bryan Donkin Co. Ltd, UK and Overseas


    • The supply of project management, design and commissioning engineers for various water treatment and power generation installation projects in the United Kingdom and overseas including China, Netherlands, Chile and India. 


    Nestle Berringen (QA, QC), Belgium


    • Sterford Group supporting Sterford N.V. (Belgium) supplied a team of QA/QC inspectors to check mechanical completion and verify the operational integrity of the plant. 


    Det Norske Veritas / Sterford Group (Inspection)


    • Sterford operated under a standing contract with Det Norske Veritas B.V.  provided joint support for specialist services where a combined ability is required for material inspection. 

    • In this context Sterford or Veritas take the lead dependant on whether mechanical or instrumentation elements are the dominant factors.  

    • Sterford performed inspection services for instrumentation on behalf of DNV 


    Japanese Gas Corporation - JGC


    • Contracted for daily vendor instrument / electrical inspection services for various projects performed by JGC,  

    • Undertook all responsibilities to organise and carry out full evaluation of ordered materials and equipment destined for projects world-wide.  

    • In addition, performs material expediting services for JGC. 


    Nederlandse Aardoliemaatschappij – Shell / Exxon (Product Inspection / Engineering Services)


    • Sterford performed assigned inspection services on various European projects on a continuous daily basis over many years.  

    • Sterford has also undertaken the task of engineering evaluation on behalf of NAM of manufacturers / vendors providing a detailed assessment of vendors standards and capabilities. 


    Benelux Sole Stocking Supplier (Process Control)


    • Sterford Group Company, Stercon b.v. operating as the sole Benelux stocking distributor for Combustion Engineering process control products, carried out all management of client projects for engineering, installation, commissioning and maintenance in the region.  

    • Sterford Group Netherlands personnel managed all field activities for these projects. 


    Shell International Petroleum Maatschappij B.V (Instrument Inspection Contract), Netherlands


    • Sterford Group acting as the authorised instrument inspection company for Shell International, The Hague carried out this service on their behalf for approximately 20 years. 

    • Services performed covered Instrument Material inspection and Quality Auditing of vendors. During this period of continuous contracts with S.I.P.M., Sterford Group has covered numerous projects for various SHELL Operating Companies worldwide.  

    • In addition, Sterford Group has provided staff to S.I.P.M. Den Haag office to co-ordinate Shell instrument inspection. 


    Foxboro-Soest, (Engineering / Test / Inspection), Netherlands


    • Sterford engineers have assisted the Foxboro Instrument Company at their manufacturing premises in the Netherlands in modification and development of their systems range of instrumentation.   


    Magnesia Veendam


    • Performed the task of monitoring the design contractor during the engineering phase for this major grass roots project. This involved total responsibility to accept design on behalf of Shell Billiton (Magnesia Int.) 

    • Provided start up teams for this plant during the commissioning phase and subsequently maintenance and engineering office personnel for a period of 8 years until local Magnesia employees took over these positions. 


    Walter Bau, Germany


    • Sterford worked in continuous support of this major German Construction company providing Civil Contraction & Management personnel for various major projects. These included High Rise Apartment Blocks, Shopping Centres, Universities, Power Plants and other projects for the rebuild of East Germany as well as West Germany projects.
